The existing research indicates that the development and utilization of solar energy can play the role of reducing carbon emissions and protecting ecological environment, and also the solar cell can provide renewable clean energy for the human society. So the research and development of solar cell technology have always been a hot topic in the domestic and foreign research. China has quite rich solar resources. The researches in solar cell technology contribute to the rapid development of China’s economy and industrial restructuring. In this paper, the patent data of solar cell as the target of research, the analysis method of patent map is used to research the development trend of solar cell technology. The research is realized and visualized with Visual Studio programming, Excel, Ucinet, Netdraw and Pajek software. The method proposed can enrich and improve the research method of technological development trend. The process of research study from the macro, medium and micro aspects, it is able to master the development trend of technology by level. Through the research, it is not only provides policy reference for national development strategies, but also provides effective measures for enterprise development proposal.First of all, some patent datas are statistically analyzed from many aspects such as solar cell technology patent disclosure, division of technical development stage, regional distribution, R&D institutions, R&D types and IPC technical distribution, so as to reflect the development status and trend of solar cell technology in a macro aspect.Secondly, the theoretical framework of core technological identification is constructed from the medium aspect, and this method is used to research the identification and development trend of solar cell core technology. Base on the technical development stage and network characteristics, co-occurrence network in the core technical field of solar cell is constructed, the network is subject to characteristic analysis and visual analysis, the change process of core technical field is presented through the patent map of change process, and the future development trend of core technology is forecasted.Thirdly, the theoretical framework of technical evolution route analysis is constructed in the macro manner, and this method is used to research the development and evolution process of solar cell technology and the future development trend. Through the presentation of patent citation network and use Pajek software SPNP path algorithm, it is to find out the development route of solar cell technology and forecasts the future core technology of solar cell technology, so as to create opportunity for the future development in this technical field.Finally, by summarizing the analysis result of patent map, the future development trend of variable-frequency solar cell technology is forecasted on macro, medium and micro levels, so as to provide reference opinions for the development of solar cell technology of the state and enterprises.
