With the rapid development of urbanization, the city is facing a series of environmental disasters and social issues, traditional planning methods have been unable to coordinate the relationship between ecological protection and urban development. As a new theory and strategy, landscape urbanism can effectively relieve the severe situation faced by the traditional urban development, it also can give a positive response to advance urbanization while protecting the environment.In the theoretical research, through the study of theory, case, the paper sorts out the history, theory and practices of landscape urbanism, the practice strategy including landscape as green infrastructure, the design form as natural process and transformation and renewal of brownfield. Because natural, urban, human systems have the nonlinear characteristics, the paper studies on nonlinear theory of chaos, fractal, self-organization inspiration to expand the application of landscape urbanism system, and then forming the corresponding practice strategy, which including landscape urbanism planning strategy, repairing strategy and grafting strategy.In practice, applying the practice strategy to Phoenix Mountain Area of "Northern transformation" Project, and selecting the green infrastructure as the research object to analysis the landscape spatial pattern of Phoenix Mountain from the horizontal and vertical dimensions. The horizontal analysis includes:analysis of the deconstruction of landscape resources, open space pattern’s analysis, analysis of landscape system. The vertical analysis level is based on land utilization. The figure-ground, correlation coupling and planning for post-stratification superposition method have designed to find a scientific basis to the planning. Based on the analysis results and under the guidance of the nonlinear theory of landscape urbanism application, this paper has the following results:(1) To achieve the construction of green infrastructure network. The city can be seen as uncertain and chaotic nonlinear systems under the influence of the nonlinear theory, so the green infrastructure network of Phoenix Mountain Area is used to build a long-term, dynamic planning strategy known as "green network program," trying to adapt flexibility the "uncertainty" of urbanization. That is different from the linear form of "static" plan.(2) Proposing appropriate protection and renewal policies for the green infrastructure. Using the revelation of nonlinear theory to guide practice after observe the situation of green infrastructure, so that the formation of landscape urbanism application system can be applied in practice. Because the nonlinear theory also contains ecological concepts, the sustainability and participatory landscape design have been applied in revival strategy.(3) Finally, to find the meaning of the new program after compared with "Northern transformation Project" traditional plan. In the face of a series of ecological problems arising from urban sprawl, natural disasters and social problems, the traditional plan have been proven to be blind, waste, hastily linear development model. The nonlinear theory under the guidance of landscape urbanism can actively respond to urban chaos, disorder and environmental challenges of the crisis, and it also can balance the protection and development. This comprehensive practice of landscape urbanism under the building of nonlinear theory is to provide reference for the construction of green infrastructure and retrofit in "Northern transformation Project" or the other area.
