| At present, riding in cities is developing rapidly, riding groups are also expanding rapidly. The improvement of the urban cycling environment has a positive meaning for the urban environment’s quality. Lots of domestic project examples as practice have been built for riding, however the environmental design theory about it are lacked in China. Therefore, effectively summarizing the experience of current project examples for theoretical reference and guidance are necessary.The theory of the Post-Evalution(POE) is aimed for gathering experiences from domestic projects to guide subsequent practice activities. The status of cycling environgment with less of theory and lots of practices is adapted to it. Therefore, the paper applied the the analytic hierarchy process(AHP), which is a method of POE theory, evaluating the cycling environment in Tangdao-bay park of Qingdao. Behavior analysis are also used to deepen the results of POE, and a optimum design are operated on the cycling environment in this park at last.(1) First of all, the evaluation model is established using analytic hierarchy process(AHP), the park ride environment is summarized as four contents called "riding road, landscape, service facilities, night environment",which are composed by 19 specific indicators. Then a survey using method of scale are operated in Tangdao-bay park for collecting data for the evaluation of AHP. Results show that the problems of cycling environgment in the park are inthese areas: "safety, convenience, road line selection and space form, service station, information&labes, safety in night, vivid of landscapeâ€(2) Secondly, with emphasis on the low grade item of evalution, a surveys are operated on rider’s and pedestrians’ demographic, behavioral rules, environmental awareness, behavior motivation, using methods of comparative study based on the subdivision of population. Deep reasons of problems are recovered, then. Results show that riders tend diversification with purpose of sports, leisure, commuter, who has different needs; The rider and pedestrian have highly overlapping activity space and time. Cycling environment design needs to pay attention to the compatibility, need to consider the needs of different riders and deal with the relationship between the riders and pedestrians.(3) Thirdly, an optimum design of the cycling environment in this park is operated then. The content, design elements and design method of it were discussed, principles of "systematic, people-oriented, refinement, ecological economy" are also sumed up for successful cycling environment design.(4) finally, the research content is summarized. A new design method for the design of cycling environment composed by "use after evaluation, behavior analysis, design optimization" is creatively summed up. Then, the possibility of further research and further perfect of the method was discussed. |
