With the fast development of commercial vehicles, it has become an important part of the national economy. With the growing number of CV, more and more attention has been paid to the pollution problem caused by it. As is known to all, diesel engine has been used in CV industry widely because of the high power, low fuel consumption and high reliability, and at the same time, it has gain lots of attention as the main contributor of pollution emission. In order to limit CV’s emission, EU, North America and Japan, act as the leader of this area, have set out many strict emission regulation to be the access threshold of sales. For the diesel engine enterprises, how to develop productions meeting the future emission regulation has become an important factor in the survival and development of these enterprises. Due to the not thoroughly study of the emission regulation and all kinds of post-processing techniques, there are so many inappropriate selections of technology roadmap on light and heavy engines in lots of domestic engine manufactures, such as inappropriate technology roadmap application in different area, post-processing excessive configuration, developing new productions without evaluation of emission up-grade and following foreign technologies blindly, these have caused series wastes of enterprises’ R&D resources and increasing productions cost, which restricted the development of enterprises and internal combustion engine technology. For different combustion modes, there is a little HC and CO in engine’s emission so it is easy to control them, the main pollutions are NOX and particles. The control method is inter-machine cleaning before China Ⅲ emission regulations. After China Ⅳ emission regulations, the only inter-machine cleaning method cannot meet the requirement then the post-processing technology research is needed, which is mastered in foreign enterprises. The demotic research is still on starting line and is used in production introduction and application, which restricted the development of diesel engine. So it is very important to do some research on principle control method about engine body, EGR, SCR, DOC, POC, DPF, etc.Findinga new way, this paper aims to the emission control technologies and application range of light and heavy diesel vehicles, starting with the analysis of engine map and considering different post-processing features, to set out the technology roadmap of N1, N2 CVs in China Ⅳ/V, EU Ⅵ. Then it put forward the feasibility in theory of EU Ⅵ without EGR. Based on WP12, production development, matching and calibration are implemented, this paper chooses theory analysis, test research and data simulation to analyze and demonstrate the EU Ⅵ without EGR. The main research contents are as follows: analysis on key control area of engine emission for light and heavy duty CVs, analysis of optimum operating conditions of different emission control methods, such as EGR、SCR、DOC、POC, DPF, etc., light and heavy duty CVs technology roadmap plan and verification of EU Ⅵ without EGR on WP12. Research shows that it is feasible to meet EU Ⅵ using no EGR method without big engine body changes based on current platform, and it also verifies the feasibility of researching emission control method from engine map.The research result could be a reference on selection of diesel engine emission technology, and also it is meaningful to extend the life cycle of existing products and to save R&D cost.
