Car styling become from carriage to the now popular wedge-shaped following the evolution of auto industry relying the development of mechanical engineering, aerodynamics, manufacturing technology and other disciplines in the past more than one hundred years, has made considerable progress. Especially in the past two decades new car styling appear one after another aided by the combination of technology and art, stimulating people’s attention.But not all car styling can be appreciated by people, for some of them can’t cater with the potential aesthetic needs of consumers, Currently, although many automotive company do have carry out some research on what’s consumers’ real demands, but the final decision largely depends on the designers’ will and understanding and partly or even all depends on preferences of leaders. Not only can it not meet consumers’ demands well and overwhelm the market share, even make huge losses to companies and our society. How to control this risk at a lower level? Many companies pay attention on it and change this situation without delay.This paper explored the inner demands of consumers by means of Kansei Engineering method and made them as the standards when evaluating the car styling. Confirmed seven emotional words as indexs on evaluating sport utility vehicle and determined the weights of each index; established six principles on screening sample and obtained 12 samples including Europe, America, Japan and mainland; extracted seven modeling feature lines as the research object based on referring to existing research and consulting to designers and did Kansei engineering survey on them; defined the weights of the characteristic lines when describing evaluation indexes and evaluated the 12 samples. Then compared standard values with results throughing fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and finally demonstrated fuzzy comprehensive evaluation can be used in evaluating the profile modeling of sport utility vehicle.In order to deepen this conclusion further more, established a evaluation model about sport utility vehicle’s profile modeling after combined feature line weights on each emotional vocabulary with sensuous vocabulary weights in evaluating overall. Then proposed optimization model and tested the evaluation model and finally proved this method and model can be used to filter design, although the calculated value by evaluation model less than standard value, but they have the same trends and sequence. Also, the weights can help designers to clear where should pay more attention on.
