Grain security has great influence on national security and social stability, and grain storage plays an important role in grain security. Compared with the granary on the ground, the underground granary has such advantages as field preservation, better concealment, natural low temperature and so on, which meet requirements of green grain storage. Our researchers have developed several new underground granaries in recent years, in which the cylindrical underground granary becomes a perfect granary because of reasonable force and good applicability.The three-dimensional finite element models have been established to analyze the reinforced concrete cylindrical underground granary structure in the paper with the universal FEM software Abaqus, which provide references for the design and research of underground granary structures in future. The main research contents are as follows:(1) Because the granary structure and its reinforcements are rather complicated, the entire geometric model should be properly simplified. The constraint way and load application of the model should be also reasonably determined at the same time to guarantee reliability of granary structure model.(2) At first, an three-dimensional entity model of the granary structure has been established to analyze total deformation distribution, vertical deformation distribution and compound stress distribution, so as to find out design weaknesses and improve structure design details.(3) Then the other beam element and shell element model of the granary structure has also been established to further analyze deformation and stress distribution. In addition, the internal forces of representative parts of the granary structure including the granary cover plate, cylindrical granary wall, anti-floating cantilever plate and conical granary bottom plate have been extracted from the model to compare with those calculated from design, and reasonable internal forces should be selected as the basis of structure design.
