Research On The Protection Of Traditional Hui Style Architectural Culture

Architecture is an important part in culture and also an important manifestation of cultural inheritance. Chinese traditional architectural culture consists of several types of regional architectural cultures. Traditional Hui-style architectural culture, a representative of them, demonstrates the native Huizhou culture and the way of people’s life in the past through its particular decoration characteristics and cultural heritages. Today, with the globalization, the frequent collision between different cultures has brought unprecedented challenges to the heritage and development of our traditional architecture culture. Meanwhile, the rapid urbanization is leading to the growing decrease of traditional architectural culture. Therefore, in order to protect Chinese traditional architectural culture and even Chinese traditional culture, we should start with the protection of regional traditional architectural cultures. The preservation of traditional Hui-style architectural culture is not only a protection for Huizhou culture, but also a protection for Chinese traditional culture.This research was conducted by employing several methods such as literature consultation, summarization, on-the-spot investigation and combination of text and pictures to explore the ways to preserve traditional Hui-style architecture. This paper is divided into six parts. The first part elaborates the reasons for choosing this topic, research status, research methods and the significance of the research. The second part firstly explains the concept of culture and architecture culture and then makes a concrete analysis of the relationship between architecture and culture. And also the importance of Chinese traditional architecture protection is discussed. The third part deals with a detailed discussion about the connotation of Huizhou culture, characteristics of Hui-style traditional architectural culture, the academic value of traditional Hui-style architecture culture and the relationship between Huizhou culture and traditional Hui-style architectural culture. The fourth part analyzes the present situations of traditional architecture protection home and abroad and the achievements and problems in the protection of traditional Hui-style architecture culture. In addition, a conclusion is made that it is worthwhile to learn the experience and achievements obtained in the architectural culture protection in foreign countries. On the basis of the study mentioned above, the fifth part puts forward policies and measures about traditional Huizhou architecture protection macroscopically and microscopically. Finally, the sixth part provides a summary and prospect of the research.Through the research, the author has acquired some achievements. However, there are still some weaknesses in the study, for example, due to the budget constraints, the field trip is not comprehensive enough. Although the proposed strategies and measures are practicable in theory, there may be some difficulties to arise in the practical operation process, because it is a huge systematic work, and needs the comprehensive involvement of the nation, local governments, civilians and especially the sufficient budget. Nevertheless, it is sincerely hoped that the results of this study can provide theoretical support and reference for the protection of traditional Hui-style architectural culture.
