With the development of rotor spinning technology, a new rotor drive system, with low power consumption, low friction losses, low noise, and high integration, etc., is proposed. The core of the system is the driving motor. This paper designs an outer rotor, slotless, high speed permanent magnet (PM) BLDC motor which can be used in the new type of rotor drive system. On the basis of the design, relevant research is carried out.Firstly, according to the work environment and the motor parameters requirement, this paper determines the overall design of the motor, as well as the motor body structure and the electromagnetic properties. The overall motor design is determined by the research of the key element of the plan,such as main dimensions, the choice of the electromagnetic load, the air gap length, form poles, stator and rotor structure design, the wire selection. Furthermore, The electromagnetic design scheme is optimized from the respect of the influence of electromagnetic load ratio on the loss and temperature rise of the motor.Secondly, the electromagnetic design of motor is analyzed by the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method, and the analytical basis of simulation software-Ansys Maxwell2D is introduced. The motor in this paper is modelled by using this software, and based on the model, the motor is simulated by some conditions, such as the non-load, load and static, transient,which resulting to some relevant motor performance parameters. The feasibility of the design scheme is verified.By using the energy method, analytical expressions are derived for the linear part of the conductor inductance. The harmonic analysis of the results with Matlab is given, and the relationship between the value of inductance and the parameters of motor structure is analyzed. Through the Miller empirical formula of end winding leakage inductance, we get the value of End leakage inductance, the results are compared with the results of finite element analysis, The adaptability of the Miller empirical formula is verified.Finally, the paper build the mathematical model and chaotic conversion model for the external rotor and slotless high-speed permanent magnet BLDC motor, and on the basis of the model, the motor is analyzed with chaotic characteristics. The Matlab simulation shows the existence of chaos, and designs a state feedback controller to control the chaotic state, so that the motor running more smoothly.
