The increase of capability and volume of railway transportation has a significant meaning to the development of our country’s railway transportation and increase of whole country’s economy. While the most important means of increase this is to develop high speed transportation and heavy haul transportation. With the deepening of the reform and opening up and rapid development of country’s economy in recent years, the conflict between capability and volume of railway transportation has become increasingly prominent, therefore, to develop high speed transportation and heavy haul transportation is urgently needed. With the rapid development of E-commerce, high speed railway transportation will be the new field of railway transportation in the future.Due to the high speed of this type of freight wagon(operation speed is 160km/h and above), more traction pull and brake force during running, and complex cross section of railway in vertically and horizontally, therefore, the force situation of high speed freight wagon is more complex than the common freight wagon. Experience of high speed transportation from all over the world shows that, the running quality mainly depends on the technology condition of locomotive and rolling stock, while the coupling device is one of key technology, and the performance of draft gear directly influenced the performance of vehicle’s longitudinal dynamics. Therefore, to development new type of draft gear has a very significant meaning to realize high speed transportation.The paper comprehensively analyze various structure of draft gear, use new type of resilient rubber draft gear as the key object of the research, mainly analyze its structure character, working principle and static & dynamic performance, and also make a finite element analysis on the key parts. By using its simulation model to make a simulation calculation of vehicles longitudinal dynamics on commonly used braking condition and emergency braking condition.Based on the result of research analysis, analyze the technology standard of draft gear used on high speed freight wagon, and make some relative experimental verification combine with the result of technology standard research,finally come up with modification ideas of technology standard of draft gear used on high speed freight wagon and the technical route and design structure, according to this, have designed draft gear with low impedance, relative high capacity, good characteristic curve, high sensitivity and high reliability. This provides theory reference to the later selection and design of new type draft gear, and we also hope the research results of this paper could make a promotion in draft gear used on high speed freight wagon.
