Traditional DYJ 900 movable crane has integrated the functions of moving, lifting and positioning of the concrete beam for high speed railway construction. However, the shortcomings are obvious and they include: 1) complicated processes while positioning the concrete beams on the pillars; 2) high safety concerns due to the involvement of operator for precise position of the crane leg; 3) big deflection of the main body structure caused by the body weight and the concrete beam. All these contribute to the relatively low working efficiency which makes an adverse influence in the high speed railway building in the mountainous areas, and to the difficulties for safe operation. Here we focus on the traditional DYJ 900 movable crane and the works are:1. The key systems of novel DYJ 900 movable crane are introduced in detail as well as their key parameters;2. Based on the study of the processes of traditional DYJ 900 movable crane, its structure is modified and better processes are realized.3. A simplified model is proposed to calculate the deflection of the main body and the supporting forces for the novel DYJ 900 machine;4. The finite element method(FEM) is used to numerically analyze the stress distribution of one key component, i.e., assisting leg under the critical conditions.
