Now the 500 kV ultra high voltage AC power transmission network has become the backbone network of China’s power grid, 500 kV substation is the key node of the whole ultra high voltage power grid. The importance of transformer can not be ignored in the power equipment of the substation. Especially the important position of500 kV large transformer in electric power system and its value, it will cause serious consequences once a failure occurs. Analysis of 500 kV transformer faults is the subject, in the first place, the purpose, method and significance of 500 kV transformer fault analysis are discussed overall. In 500 kV transformer fault types and fault causes,to the most common core fault, winding fault, main insulation fault, load tap changer body fault, wire fault, casing fault and structural fault seven types, in this paper, the seven kinds of faults are deeply discussed from many aspects. In the 500 kV transformer fault diagnosis, the various methods of fault diagnosis for 500 kV transformer are discussed in this paper, which is based on the intuitive judgment, live line detection and power failure test, in order to determine whether the transformer has a fault, the severity of the fault, the types of fault and the development trend of fault. In the last chapter of this paper, analysis and processing of 500 kV Huan 2#main transformer C phase HV bushing fault in Anyang Huanan substation is introduced. And found that the problem is universal, and the test can not be found,there are significant security risks. Finally, the corresponding corrective measures for all such high pressure casing are put forward. In this paper, the process is described in detail, as an important supplementary reference material. So as to help the operation and maintenance personnel in a timely and accurate analysis of the problem,troubleshooting, reduceing the risk, to realize the effective transmission of substation operation and maintenance experience.
