Micro-grid is a new smart power grid, which integrates power generation, energy storage and load. Micro-grid has two kinds of operation mode:grid-connected operation and independent operation. Micro-grid can act as the control unit, which can quickly react to meet the needs of external grid in bulk power grid. Micro-grid can also meet the local users’specific needs of reducing transmission line loss, increasing load reliability and stabilizing user voltage. Compared with AC micro-grid, DC micro-grid can connect with energy units, storage units and DC load efficiently and safely. Reasonable energy management control of DC micro-grid can promote the efficiency of micro-grid, and enhance system stability and reliability of system.PV DC micro-grid is studied in this paper, multi-agent technology is utilized to manage energy of micro-grid and to strengthen cooperation and contact among energy units in micro-grid. ZigBee is used to build a micro-grid communication network. Energy management and control have been achieved through the combination of multi-agent and ZigBee. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the structure of the PV DC micro-grid is analyzed, the characteristics of PV and batteries are studied, and the mathematical model of PV and batteries is built. Besides, the power control method of PV and battery is designed.Secondly, a management system of PV DC micro-grid is designed with multi-agent technology. Two levels system is built based on JADE platform. Power is controlled by the bottom level PV agents. The battery agents charge or discharge reasonably according to actual needs of PV micro-grid, and adjust the voltage of micro-grid at the same time. Considering the state information of the bottom agents, the top agents make a comprehensive judgment to achieve the coordinated control of every unit in micro-grid and the energy balance of system.Then, a wireless communication network, which is applicable for PV DC micro-grid energy management is designed with ZigBee technology. The network adopts tree topology to link the top level agents with the bottom level agents. The bottom agents collect information from field devices, and connect to ZigBee terminal nodes through the serial ports. Information of ZigBee terminal nodes is uploaded to coordinators by routers, and coordinators connect with IPC by serial ports. After the analysis and judgment of IPC, the control commands are send to coordinators through serial ports, and then the control information, finally get by ZigBee nodes, is send to routers. The specific control of Micro-grid field devices is achieved by bottom agents.Finally, simulation and verification are carried out. Simulation model is built under MATLAB/Simulink/Power-system environment. MACSim is adopted to achieve the exchange of information between JADE platform and MATLAB platform, and the results confirm the feasibility of multi-agent energy management. ZigBee network is built to test the stability of the communication network and the uniqueness of address. Besides, the combination of ZigBee and multi-agent tests the performance of DC micro-grid energy management. The results show that the combination of multi-agent and ZigBee can achieve energy management of PV DC micro-grid.
