With the emergence and development of micro-grid, the large amount of distributed generators installations becomes possible. A micro-grid can be described as a small-scale power generation and distribution system, which consists of distributed generators, load, energy storage devices, converters, protectors, etc. From the point of view of the entire power grid, micro-grid is a controllable and independent unit, which prevent the grid to face different kinds of distributed generators directly, and thus provides a favorable condition for the access of distributed generators. Meanwhile, the development of micro-grid technique can also satisfy power consumers’ different personalized demands of power supply. As micro-grid technology brings the innovation and development for power system, people also put forward new requirements for its control methods:(1) the connection of any micro-grid cannot influence the whole system greatly;(2) micro-grid can choose its own operation points;(3) the switch between off-network operation and on-network operation can be achieved smoothly;(4) the active and reactive power in micro-grid can be adjusted independently;(5) having the ability of adjusting system voltage and power.However, micro-grid in the future behaves more distributed, so large quantity of control data and flexible control method are required. The traditional unified and concentrated control method that is processed in a dispatching center becomes more and more difficult to adapt to the development of power grid, therefore, researchers propose new kinds of control methods based on multi-agent system(MAS). Briefly, the main idea of MAS is decentralizing the control rights to each micro-grid and its components, forming a hierarchical control system, structuring agents with certain intelligence and autonomy, through the interaction, cooperation and negotiation between these agents, finally realizing the control of grid. The advantages of this kind of control methods are:(1) each component can operate independently and takes some adjustments in certain fields according to the variation of its environment and pre-set targets;(2) complex control behaviors are completed by the cooperation of all components, without the installment of an expensive central controller for massive data processing;(3) different micro-grid component can set different control strategy to realize the optimized control.Firstly, according to the basic principles of MAS and the structure of micro-grid, this thesis proposes a three-tier structure MAS micro-grid model, and analysis the feasibility and necessity of the usage of MAS in micro-grids. A kind of control algorithm model which is suitable to multiple micro-grids system is also proposed in this thesis, this model includes micro-grid local control algorithm in consideration of the economical efficient in a single micro-grid and multiple micro-grids coordination control algorithm in consideration of the minimum active power loss in a multiple micro-grids system.Secondly, according to the study of models of different components in a micro-grid, this thesis proposes the functions of corresponding agents. A micro-grid model which contains small-type wind turbine generator, accumulator, controllable load and critical load is built in Matlab/Simulink environment. The agent control model is established to ensure the safe operation, satisfying the voltage stability and power balance, while the specific function of each agent and the cooperative control strategy are expounded. As shown in the simulation result, the MAS installed in micro-grid can achieve flexible and reliable control through the cooperation of agents.In consideration of the simulation speed constraints of Matlab/Simulink, JADE platform is used to build a MAS model which realizes the cooperation and interaction between multiple micro-grids in consideration of minimizing active power loss.Finally, this thesis summarizes the research results and makes an outlook about future work.
