The economy of coastal areas of Guangdong province has fairy high rate growth with a large number of super high-rise and bizarre construction. Meanwhile, typhoons are frequent in these areas, thus wind-resistance design is very important for those high-rise buildings. However, wind resistant research and wind relevant codes are far behind in seismic aspects. It is significant to research on wind resistance of high-rise building. With the rapid development of computer technology, computer processing power achieves great progress, making CFD numerical simulation become possible in engineering application. CFD numerical simulation has the advantages of cheapness, visualization, full scale simulation and portability. So, the wind resistance design can enter a new stage if the application of architectural field design can be widely used. But the CFD still exists many problems, such as the defect of the turbulence modes, non-conformant setting which often makes its result doubtful. In order to ensure the wind resistance of high-rise building, deepen the understanding of building wind load and speed up numerical wind tunnel technology development, this paper takes the practical engineering project as research background, studying the CFD numerical simulation technology and structural wind resistance. Main work content is as follows:1. Deepen the understanding of the codes and study the differences by comparing to the wind load of the relevant codes of China, United States, Europe and Japan.2. Verify the reliability of numerical wind tunnel technology and study the computational accuracy of different turbulence models through 18 groups CAARC model test. Meanwhile, provide the optimization Suggestions of turbulence models.3. Summarise the general grid size requirements, such as body grid requirements, building surface grid requirements and prism mesh requirements.4. Study the wind load and structural response of Golden-mountain-lake project by numerical modelling. Provide suggests of wind resistance and shape factors according to the results of the tests.5. Study the wind load and structural response of C&M project by numerical modelling. Meanwhile, provide suggests of wind resistance according to the results of the tests.6. Analysis difference between simulative value and code’s value and certify the significance of CFD numerical simulation technology.
