In recent years, natural gas has come to be used more and more popular in all walks of life, and has been developed rapidly as fuel for engine and genset, thus more and more engine manufactures of both home and abroad come to develop natural gas engine. Control system is the key for natural gas engine development, and the development of control technology is also the signal of the development of natural gas engine.JC15T natural gas engine is a closed loop air fuel ratio control natural gas engine developed by Jichai. This paper is mainly for the selection and calibration of the control system as well as the performance test of the whole engine for the JC15T type natural gas engine.According to the performance parameters and structure characteristics of the JC15T type natural gas engine, control system is selected after comparing the function and the price. WOODWARD EGStrim control system has been selected in this paper.In order to maximize the engine potential, to make the engine in its best level in the power, economy and emission characteristics, the control system needs to be calibrated. In this paper, the control system is calibrated at speed control, air fuel ratio closed loop control, fire detection and so on. Through the optimization of the control system calibration, the gas engine can make its best integrated operation, and ensure its good working characteristics in all working conditions.The whole engine performance test has been carried out with the engine measurement and control system. The data collection, measurement, control and analysis of the performance parameters of the natural gas engine have been finished during the test. The results of performance test show that the starting performance, load characteristics, speed characteristics and emission parameters of the natural gas engine meet the design requirements, and also indicate that the calibration of control system parameters are good.With rational selection and optimizing calibration of the control system, as well as the whole engine performance test, the design and development of the natural gas engine has been optimized, which ensures that the natural gas engine has good characteristics under all working conditions, improves fuel utilization ratio and reduces the emission pollution.
