Conceptual design, as a creative process, is the most important design phase to determine the quality, cost and innovation of the product. The concept design for complex product is the orderly and targeted design process which essentially driven by demand,from the analysis of demand to the formation of the concept. Not only is this process a process of the transformation, evolution and mapping of knowledge from the domain of demand、function、 behavior and structure domain, but also a process of the fusion, coordination and influence ofthe multi-disciplinary and multi-physics field knowledge.The vague、uncertainty anddivergence of the knowledge covered by this process, which lead to the lack of effective product knowledge model, make it difficult to achieve an orderly、structure and also, a deffective innovation for the concept design process. In addition, the conceptual design of complex productisgenerally only the innovation or re-innovation of apart of subsystem and component. Therefore, representation of reuse knowledge, and the integration of innovative knowledge and reuse knowledgealso play an important role in the quality and efficiency of product design. In view of the above problems, this paper launches the following research:(1) An intensive study of functions, behavior, structure and other types of knowledge and its characteristics in conceptual design of the complex product, to lay the foundation for the establishment of a reasonable representation of all kinds of knowledge.(2) A classification and modeling of the knowledge involved in the conceptual design of the complexproduct, including the object knowledge and process knowledge.The object knowledge model is based on the P-B-S design model, which can realize the description of the functional domain, the behavior domain and the domain knowledge, while the process knowledge model is based on the object knowledge model, considering the dual-requirements of knowledge innovation and knowledge reuse of complex product, to describing and structuring the completeprocess of generation, solution and evaluation.(3) A solution and evaluation method of conceptual design which is based on the object knowledge model and process knowledge model. By analysing the solution mechanism of conceptual scheme and the evaluation mechanism of solution scheme in the mapping process of complex product function domain, behavior domain and structure domain, and comprehensive selecting of various analysis and evaluation methods, including morphological matrix method, grey relational analysis, multi-disciplinary simulation analysis, etc, not only can this method realize the function, performance and performance of the conceptual design scheme in the domain of function, behavior and domain, but also ensure the rationality and correctness of the scheme.In this paper, the effectiveness of the research is demonstrated by the example of a typical complex high-speed train. Conceptual design knowledge model and conceptual scheme solving and evaluation method, which this paper puts forward, provides a set of practical and feasible methods for the standardization and structure of conceptual design knowledge for complex products and the ordering of the process of design implementation.
