Regional Expression Of Local Materials In Modern Building Construction

Under the shock of globalization, the traditional culture and regional characteristics are losing, the architecture was in the pursuit of embarrassment like visualization and heteromorphosis. At this time, the return of the architectural noumenon, the attention to traditional culture and regional characteristics, are becoming very important. The material is the key to solve the problem. Material is fundamental to architecture. While the local material has been seen as the longest architectural material in one place’s long history. The study of local material and its construction process, is to find a cohering interest between the architecture itself and local culture. The application research on the expression of local material in architecture, was to inherit and develop the local architectural culture on the ontic discussion angle.The material and its material basis are the most direct carrier when we find regional performance in modern architecture. The local material can reflect the architectural regional characteristics by its unique color, quality, texture, and the construction way. The performance of local material’s regional characteristics is realized by responsing to environment, regional culture and technology of architect. The local architectures are living only if we on this basis. Therefore, this paper took the local architectural material of ChuanXi Plain as a start point, to analysis its constructive way by discussing and researching its material’s basic attributes. On this basis, to study the local architectural material’s regional expression from three aspects, which is nature, culture and technology.Based on this background, this paper took the local architectural material’s regional expression of ChuanXi Plain as the mainly researching object, to give a discussion in three aspects:First of all, it elucidates the theory and practical elements of material, regional and material’s regional expression, so that we can lay a theoretical foundation for the later analyzing.Secondly, combining with the theoretical foundation, this paper introduced the ChuanXi Plain local material’s generating environment and its species, and we choose some kinds of typical local material to study the constructive way of their own and tried to unscramble the return of architectural ontic.The last, we think that it can reflect the regionalism of local material by researching and concluding the design strategy how local material’s various kinds of performance and its expression to fit and express region’s nature, culture and technology characteristics in specific, which needs to study the local material’s regional expression in actual architecture, which means response to nature, local culture and architectural technology, moreover, combining with the living example of architecture of local architectural material, which has the meaning of enlightenment and demonstration. This paper hope this research can be helpful to the designing of regional architecture in the future.
