As a new energy, natural gas has entered into families gradually and been used by thousands of households with the economic and social development. There is an increasing demand in the natural gas at the moment and safety use has become an outstanding problem in the industry. As an effective tool of early warning, combustible gas alarm will give an alarm and cut off the gas source when the concentration of combustible gas in the air reaches alarm limit and avoid happening of accidents in an effective way. As an important component of combustible gas alarm, sensor is easy to be affected by toxic gases and other chemicals due to its own quality, which will cause failure and malfunction of catalyst and seriously affect alarm function. To ensure the accuracy and reliability of alarm during using process, it is necessary to make research on the failure incentives and precautions of sensor in combustible gas alarm. This article seeks for new preparation method to break the bottleneck met in the usage of traditional precious metal activation component by taking catalytic combustion type alarm sensor as research object and through understanding and analysis of activation component of Pd and Pt two precious metals and on the basis of own characteristics of activation component. Through preparation of Pd-Pt bimetallic activation component, deeply analyze its sensitive characteristics, response recovery characteristics and stability and resistance level to sulfur toxicity to methane sensor, meanwhile, study what kind of correlation existed between these characteristics and catalyst and make summarization for the brought influence. Combine the anti-toxic advantages in these two precious metal elements together and improve ability to resist intoxication through mixture preparation mode of these two precious metals. Research result shows that bimetallic catalytic elements have excellent stability; 1.5Pd-1.5Pt/Al2O3 and 2Pd-1Pt/Al2O3 are similar to each other. The sulfur resistance of bimetallic elements is a little bit higher than Pd/Al2O3, after adding Pt, the sulfur resistance activity of Pt is relatively higher, therefore, the characteristics of bimetallic catalytic elements can be strengthened by 20% before withdrawal of sulfur gas, which can achieve the aim of improving anti-poisoning ability of sensor, strengthen early warning function of combustible gas alarm to improve safety index and has practical value.
