Flexible DC technology has been widely used in the transmission field in recent years, but it is necessary to study the upgrading and transformation of the existing power distribution system in the face of the development of the power distribution system and the improvement of the reliability and line capacity. Especially the existing urban distribution network is generally closed loop design and open-loop operation; if the use of the medium voltage flexible DC link network control device to achieve closed-loop operation, will greatly improve the system performance, studying the installation and capacity allocation of the device is needed, which is essential for the operation of the power distribution network.This paper firstly analyzes the typical network structure and characteristics of the current urban AC voltage distribution network, including the overhead line and cable line, and presents the typical structure of the hybrid power distribution network.According to the characteristics of the location of the flexible DC device, the paper points out that the discrete location problem is suitable for the comprehensive evaluation method. For the flexible DC loop network control device for locating and sizing problem, this paper through analysis and comparison, propose a method based on entropy to calculate the index weight and the ideal solution approximation method for locating and sizing model; this method can effectively avoid the problem of improper setting of index weight of factors human brought about, and TOPSIS method was used to estimate the candidate the scheme, calculation process is simple and effective and has good expansibility, meet the following requirements evaluation.Finally, the paper conducts research to the flexible DC ring network demonstration zone, collected data, analyzes the demonstration area of distribution network structure parameters and operation parameters; determines the soft straight loop control device of substation site location and number, and takes the evaluation index value of every program; applying the proposed method to conduct a comprehensive assessment of all plan, and get the optimal location and capacity allocation, which provides support for the 10kV ring network construction demonstration project.
