The fault simulation function of the Centralized control station-Substation (CCS-Substation) simulation and training system which development by the North China Electric Power University has some defects. The data used by system was artificial filled. Less protection type used by system. Simulation analysis capabilities to meet the data needs of only a small grid like CCS-Substation. If this system migrated to a larger scale network would appear artificial complicated and portability loss, part of results of the simulation missing and other issues.In response to these problems, we completed the following work. Design of the overall structure of the grid fault simulation capabilities, data requirements analysis and simulation capabilities, improve database automatic modeling module. Use the "Assembly-Components-Model" design thinking to design and develop a protection component model and based on the logic method and fault calculation. We not only design and develop various protection models which cores is judgment components, contains starting components, action delay components but also design and develop the grid fault simulation function.This design fault simulation capabilities to a regional grid EMS data as the basis for testing. The test results show that the design and develop the fault simulation capabilities can give all kinds of protective devices, automatic safety devices and circuit breakers situation, after faults coming. Results are correct, reliable, and able to meet the training needs of trainees.
