In the course of operation, the heat caused by the friction between the teeth of the gear transmission system increases the temperature of the gear, which leads to the thermal deformation of the gear. In order to improve the performance of the gear transmission, the gear is needed to be modified in the design and manufacture stage. Taking the involute spur gear as an example, the temperature effect and tooth profile modification are included, and the nonlinear factors such as tooth surface friction, time-varying tooth backlash and time-varying meshing stiffness are considered. The thermal deformation of the gear and the error of profile modification are analyzed, and the time varying meshing stiffness of the spur gear is obtained. By using the computer aided geometric design method, the actual meshing line which is included in the tooth profile error is calculated. Through the actual meshing line, obtain the gear variable friction arm, and considering the backlash, time-varying mesh stiffness and contact ratio and using the concentrated mass method included in the tooth profile error of spur gear pair is a nonlinear dynamic model is established. The dynamic differential equation of the system is solved, and the transmission error of the gear is analyzed with the modification method and the change of temperature rise. The results show that the reasonable modification method can improve the impact of gear teeth, and the temperature has little effect on the gear transmission accuracy. The input torque fluctuation frequency has great influence on the transmission accuracy of the gear system. The impact of modification on the gear rattle is discussed by introducing the rattle index. The analysis results show that the smaller amount of modification can improve the gear rattle, excitation frequency is the main factor affecting the rattle index, rattle index with frequency increased linearly.
