Research On The Construction Of Contemporary Architectural Space Based On Oriental Garden Thinking

Although the globalization have propelled human civilization, at the same time,it has produced a reaction—Local culture is being eroded. Thus, the collision of the foreign culture and the traditional culture brings enormous challenge to Chinese architects. In the context of globalization, how to design contemporary architectures that show Chinese native characteristics becomes a problem to be solved by Chinese architects. Based on the architectural context, this thesis tries to put forward three questions. What is the inherent relationship between Chinese traditional garden and architecture? From the perspective of the Oriental garden, how does garden affect the architectural design? How to extract an architecture vocabulary from garden study?In this study, the relationship between garden and architecture as the research theme, the Oriental garden thinking and the construction of architectural space as the entry points. Firstly the thesis sums up and summarizes the Oriental garden thinking. Secondly the thesis explores the correlation between architecture and garden, and the portability from garden to architecture. Then the thesis explores the design vocabulary of the construction of architectural space, based on gardening methods and some architecture examples. The thesis try to use garden thinking to generate an architectural language, in order to reproduce the traditional image of architectural space and achieve the goal—localization of Chinese contemporary architecture.In the first section, the thesis analyzes the lack of traditional culture in Chinese contemporary architecture. The universalizing background of contemporary architecture and the goal of wisdom and poetic contemporary architecture are expounded. Then the thesis puts forward the ideas of learning from Oriental garden methods, and demonstrates the feasibility. In the second section, this part studies the relevance of architecture and garden,through the culture, philosophy, space three levels to explore the original relation between architecture and garden. In the last section, the thesis extracts position, path, massing, space, four architectural design elements. The four architectural design elements and artistic means of traditional garden, like virtual and real and inner and outer, are integrated. Then the thesis summarizes and abstracts architectural design pattern based on the Oriental garden thinking. The construction of architectural space could be guided by this design pattern. Meanwhile, the thesis briefly summarizes the architecture vocabulary in the form of diagram and table, try to use some architecture cases to reflect and derive theory, and then form the design vocabulary based on the theory.In summary, the thesis summarizes the thinking mode and operation path of architectural design pattern based on oriental garden thinking. This design pattern take the oriental garden thinking of opposite and supplementary to each as the instruction. It advocates four dimensions of position, path, massing, space to think about the portability space operations of garden art. It take the oriental artistic conception of Plain, elegant, poetry, meaning as the spatial operation target. This design pattern has a certain indication function.for returning to the tradition of Chinese architecture.
