It was found in survey that vegetables often followed a conventional way to grow and manage in Beijing campus green spaces. Although it is possible to create a relatively pleasant environment in a conventional way, but its ecological value and the ability adapted to the high-speed population growth were not good. If the campus landscape design could be transformed, even the choice of conventional vegetables, also a more pleasant and good ecological value environment can be created.The key point in this paper is to promote the ecological and social benefits of the campus green spaces by the refinement of the campus green space design.This paper discussed the issue on eight aspects including specific implementation methods:1、The ecological thinking reflected in academy of ancient China and the picturesque campus planning during the Olmstead period impacted the contemporary university campus ecological planning.2、Combining with the ecological theory, the formation of the effective theoretical guidance on campus green space ecological landscape design.3、Campus green space planning level:combining the characteristics of Beijing campus green space, it was studied on the effective green patches and corridors which connected the green space on campus and in the urban space. It was also studied on how to make the campus fragmented green space connected and integrated and to improve the ecological connection between the campus and urban space.4、The green ecological benefits from the perspective of 13 universities in Beijing were investigated on the planting design of the campus green space. The planting design method which can promate the ecological effect of the green space was proposed, after studing on the prevalent problems on campus green space planting design.5、After analysing the green space in the energy-efficient buildings on campus, four ways including green atrium, roof garden courtyard and vertical greening were promoted to compensate for the ecological damage caused by the construction of campus buildings, belonging to ecological restoration design category.6、The part of the article on campus water landscape with ecological restoration and compensation function combined three aspects on rainwater harvesting, water purification and purification of brownfield by water landscape. It was selected two cases to analyse the new trend, concepts and methods of the ecological water landscape design on the current campus. Combined with Beijing local climatic conditions, it was studied on the possibility to construct the water landscape with ecological restoration and compensation functionin in Beijing universities.7、The part of the article on the campus plaza ecological design combined with the current eecological achievement, which presented inspiring experience and design guidelines and provided related cases on Beijing campus square design with an analysis of design guidelines.8、 From the campus green space maintaining management aspect, "public participation" was proposed to promote students and residents of the surrounding communities to participate in the management.
