Harmonic pollution is one of the most interesting power quality problems which influent enterprises and other power users in the grid. Harmonic will bring other electrical equipment in the power grid a series of different degree of influence; even can cause huge economic losses.Metallurgical enterprises is one of the main consumption group of the power, the production equipment used by possesses are mostly have characteristics of nonlinear, impact, and they are an important source of harmonic pollution in the power grid. And in order to solve the problem of harmonic pollution of the metallurgy enterprises, it is necessary to study the load characteristic and find reasonable means of harmonic governance. This article obtains from the thesis research background and significance of this paper introduces the basic concept, the harmonic problem of research situation of harmonic problem in domestic and abroad; the harm of harmonic and related standards and regulations of the state. Practical engineering as an example, this paper introduces the basic situation of an iron and steel enterprise in Hebei Provence where the two new typical harmonic sources installed. This paper introduced the research process of power quality problems caused by the two new harmonic sources, the process of simulation of harmonic analysis, researched the basic principle function and research application status of harmonic treatment device of the commonly used in engineering. Finally, chose a kind of harmonic treatment device and designed three treatment devices with different configuration, simulated the control effect of the three kinds of different treatment devices by using of electric power harmonic simulation software, and compared three kinds of control systems from two aspects of economy and technical, and find out the most appropriate method to control the project. Through the simulation analysis, the selected treatment device can effectively improve the power quality caused by the new furnace, and meet the expected target.
