Wind energy is a renewable clean energy, due to the global energy crisis, the world has begun to pay attention to the use of wind energy. The best use of wind power is the wind power generation. With the rapid development of wind power units, the implementation of maintenance decision of wind power plant has ushered in an unprecedented challenge. The maintenance cost of the wind turbine is about 10%-15%, and the maintenance cost of the gearbox is an important part of the maintenance cost of the wind turbine.In this paper, the gear box of the wind turbine is studied, and the failure mode and the failure mode of the gear box are analyzed deeply. The two kinds of maintenance decision-making are selected:preventive maintenance decision and opportunity maintenance decision. The preventive maintenance decision model and the opportunity maintenance decision model are established, and the most suitable maintenance time of the gear box is the most suitable.In the preventive maintenance decision model, considering the preventive maintenance of gear box function recovery of maintenance effect, introduced the concept of age reduction factor, use bad retired old backoff factor established reliability model within a finite time interval. At the same time, it takes into account the economy, the gear box maintenance costs as the optimization objective, to find the preventive maintenance cycle, the most appropriate repair time.In the opportunistic maintenance decision model, the gear box as a multi components system, when a component fault fault maintenance or operation to preventive maintenance time for preventive maintenance work, consider other parts will have a chance together to carry out maintenance work, saves the time of single component of maintenance work generated fixed maintenance cost. Based on the distribution of the failure rate of each component, the expected life and the cost of the expected cost are calculated, and the optimal maintenance time is determined by optimizing the preventive maintenance time point and the opportunity maintenance time.Finally, the feasibility and rationality of the preventive maintenance decision model and the opportunity maintenance decision model are verified by simulation calculation of the actual operation data of a wind farm in North China.
