At present, the majority of the population living in villages and towns of our country, most masonry buildings that villagers lived in have not designed with the requirements for anti-seismic, in addition they have not adopt structural measures. In the 2013 earthquake of sichuan ya’an, masonry structure buildings in the intensity area of 6 degrees and above suffered severe damage, and led to a significant loss of life and property, One of the main reason is the current seismic constructional column technology is tedious and high cost, so it’s hard to promotion and implementation comprehensively. Therefore, according to the situation of rural residents’living standard and the construction skill levels of craftsman, not only optimize the design and construction scheme but also put forward more simple and practical measures for the current seismic constructional columns of masonry buildings, which is important to improve the seismic performance of masonry buildings in villages and towns to ensure the safety of life and property for our people. Based on the above principle, The authors of the paper has carried on the development scheme for new type of seismic constructional columns and the seismic performance of model experiment, the main research work and achievements are consists of the following three aspects.Firstly, on basis of the current chinese seismic design code and in view of the shortcomings of design and construction for the current seismic constructional columns in masonry buildings, developed a design scheme and construction method for the new seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork.This column formwork is built by small size bricks in combination with ordinary bricks, which connected the seismic constructional column and brick wall into an integral structure, Through the improvement of the seismic constructional columns’ cross-section shape and the arrangement of steel tie bar in walls to strengthen the constraint that seismic constructional column applied on wall. This method have many features such as, takes the brick formwork to replace conventional steel-wood formwork, which reduces the cost and simplify the construction process, last but not least, it achieved the overall combination of seismic constructional columns and the brick wall.Secondly, in order to verify the technical feasibility of the seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork, this part uses analysis of economic indicators to compare it withSeismic construction column of general intensity zones and high intensity area, which showed the construction costs is moderate, in addition, it has many advantages,such as save labor and time, reduce the use of formwork etc. According to the design of seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork, making three full scale wall models with cross,T and L-shaped seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork,by colligation of steel skeleton, construction of brick formwork, and the concrete pouring and vibrating etc, to further examine the process and construction quality for seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork.Finally, for the sake of verify the seismic performance of seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork, compared it with seismic constructional column wall under pseudo-static test, made comparison and analysis on the difference of seismic behavior among these two kinds of constructional column from the specimen failure process and pattern,hysteresis curve,skeleton curve, energy dissipation and ductility etc.Experiment phenomena and data analysis showed that The construction quality of test specimen and economic contrast analysis show that, the seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork keep a good overall performance in the process of test, which have a reliable connect function with surrounding walls, Its bearing and deformation capacity are basically the same as the seismic constructional column. In addition, both the relative stiffness degradation ratio,deformation energy, ductility factor of them are also roughly similar, so the seismic constructional column casting in brick formwork can satisfy the basic requirement of masonry structure building in the aspect of seismic fortification.
