The use of renewable energy will be an inevitable development direction in future smart grid. Active distribution network will provide a safe and efficient solution for large scale interconnection of intermittent energy such as PV or wind turbines to the grid.According to the characteristic of the current DER modeling, this paper proposed a DER modeling method based on static generator. PV and battery system are built in DIgSILENT using this method, the simulation result indicates that this method can simulate the characteristics of different types of DER with good static and dynamic response characteristics. This paper has also made a pre-design of the ADN experiment testbed and made simulation of its operation mode both in grid-connected and island operation in order to verify the feasibility. Finally, this paper has analyzed the coordination control technology of ADN and the area coordination control strategy based on feeder power error which is proposed. The area coordination control strategy are simulated and verified in the simulation software. The study of this paper suggests that the fully consumption of intermittent energy using active control method can be efficient and reliable. The active distribution network can be a good solution to problems like low consumption rate and high grid operation safety risk after the interconnection of large scale of intermittent energy.
