In the modernization of the national defense, modern avionics integrated system has a high requirement on the communication bus. 1553 B bus meets this requirement for its high reliability and easy-to-use features. So this paper researches the 1553 B bus, and designs a 1553 B bus communication device which bases on DSP and CPLD.At first, the functional requirements of the 1553 B bus communication device are analyzed, its main functions are confirmed and a design scheme based on DSP and CPLD is put forward. After analyzing the communication protocol of the 1553 B bus and Modbus, the 1553 B bus protocol chip(B61580S3) which is developed by the institute 772 is chosen taking account of the requirements of the national defense. The chip has good compatibility with BU-61580 chip that is produced by DDC Company of the United States and it is domestic chip. After analyzing the functional requirements of the three-way AC voltage acquisition, temperature acquisition, humidity acquisition and fourteen-way switch control circuits, a design scheme based on DSP and CPLD is put forward.Second, the hardware and software of the communication device are designed. The hardware of the device consists of DSP(TMS320F2812) and its peripheral circuits,CPLD sequential logic control circuit, 1553 B bus protocol chip and its peripheral circuit. DSP is the master processor. CPLD provides reasonable sequential logic and help the master controller access 1553 B bus protocol chip. 1553 B bus protocol chip circuit completes the function of bus communication. The software of the device is primarily composed of the DSP and CPLD software. The emphases of the software design are the way to obtain the coordinate match between them.Finally, a test platform is established. Using the EP-H1273 multifunctional communication module which belongs to Chengdu Enpht Technology Company and the 1553 B bus communication device, the communication tests are realized. In this test platform, the tests of data transceiver, switch control, communication performance and so on are completed. And the problems appearing during the tests are analyzed. In addition, the reliability model of this communication device is set up and the reliability of the device is analyzed.
