With the increasing depletion of petroleum resources and air pollution of the world, many countries implement more stringent regulations on automobile exhaust emissions, meanwhile, the car enterprises pay more attention to the car ’s fuel economy and emissions, and conductingt in-depth study on the characteristics of fuel spray has important significance on engine fuel economy and emissions. In this paper, in the process of processing the spray particle image, the particles in the image are extracted, and the corresponding particle library is established and expanded. The fuel spray image particle library management system is developed on the MATLAB/GUI platform.Connect fuel spray particle image library management system with SQL Server particle database. Do engine spray experiments to get spray images. Load spray images into spray particle image database management system, use the region growing algorithm to extract particle information from threshold image particle, and add the extracted particle to particle library to generate particle library. Match the threshold image with the particles from particle library, use region growing algorithm to extract the new particles information, and add new particle to corresponding particle library, complete particle library expansion. Fuse the SSDA algorithm of improved NCC algorithm to get a new matching algorithm for image matching.Use Photoshop painting out the simulation particle image, and load the image into spray particle library management system, debug the program of particle library generation and expansion, the operation results are presented to verify the usefulness of spray particle library management system. Find two distinct spray images A and B under the condition of 0.366 mm nozzle aperture, 20 Mpa injection pressure, load A and B into the particle library management system, image A generate the particle library, image B expand the particle library, and count the the particle number of different long axis and short axis in image A and B.
