In response to the government’s call of energy conservation and emissions reduction, Xi’an public transport corporation has introduced a large number of hybrid electric bus since 2013. Because of Hybrid electric bus and conventional gas(oil) bus have big differences in structure and using method, making the traditional gas(oil) bus maintenance period and maintenance work content and so on are no longer completely suitable for hybrid electric bus. Therefore, it is necessary to explore maintenance period that meets the needs of maintenance and management system and study the vehicle rule of failure distribution according to the structure characteristics of the hybrid electric bus, use conditions, operation conditions and so on. In order to improve the working efficiency of the hybrid electric bus maintenance, reduce the maintenance cost of production, maintain good technical condition.Firstly, on the basis of investigation this paper introduces the operation, maintenance and management system, maintenance operation process of Xi’an public transport corporation. And in the theory basics analyses the main influence factors of bus technology condition change.Secondly, this paper proposes a creative method of optimization and determination of maintenance period.And taking Xi’an hybrid electric bus maintenance cycle’s optimization and determination as the example, verifies the rationality of this method, optimizes and determines the Xi’an hybrid electric bus first stager and second stage maintenance period.Thirdly, through a large number of minor repair fault recording data for statistical analysis, confirms key assembly or key system and the fault ratio of failure mode of Xi’an hybrid electric bus; and analyses 20 hybrid electric buses’ first failure data of high voltage electrical system, through the analysis of the distribution of fault modeling, it is concluded that first failure of high voltage electrical system distribution obeys weibull distribution, and through thypothesis test to verify the validity of the conclusion.Finally, based on the research analysis, this paper points out the insufficiency of Xi’an hybrid electric bus in maintenance, and proposes the corresponding improvement measures or suggestions.This paper taking xi ’an hybrid electric bus maintenance activities as the research object, research results have certain academic value and engineering practical value, is helpful to improve the application level of Xi’an hybrid electric bus maintenance, and provide reference for other cities’ hybrid electric bus maintenance application.
