Resident trip OD is a critical information for traffic management and planning, which is widely studied. The volume and distribution of resident trip OD have a strong relationship with urban environment, energy consumption and traffic congestion, which are influenced by the construction of urban transport operators and transport facilities. Therefore, traffic OD is significant for the city traffic planning and layout and traffic space utilization.With the rapid development of information and communication technology technologies, network technology and mobile communication technology, traffic information collection based on mobile phone positioning technology is becoming one of the hot research areas. Mobile phone users’trip could be extracted from these footprints in information database of the wireless communications providers. With the increasing penetration rate of mobile phone ownership rate and the full coverage of the mobile communication networks, mobile communication service operator has accumulated a large number of user locationcellphone signal data, and canwhich provides rich considerable data resources for the study of resident trip law OD, real-time traffic monitoring and travel traffic demand estimation.First of all, through reviewing the research purpose and significance of mobile phone location data to obtain the traffic information, this research sums up and analyzes the research results at home and abroad and the research status of the mobile phone positioning technology and OD distribution method both at home and aboard. On this basis, determine the main content of this paper.Secondly, briefly introducing the relevant theoretical basis of GSM wireless communication network, mobile phone positioning method, this research compares the advantages and disadvantages of the positioning technology to determine the mobile phone signaling technology as used. Then, it analyzes the data characteristics of the mobile phone location data and mobile base station data, and data preprocessing for the subsequent work.Thirdly, this research focuses on the research of traffic zone division based on mobile phone signaling data, using the correlation of the generating mechanism of signaling data and the user behavior, analyzing the time distribution of base station activity to get the base station area land property. Further, this paper gets traffic zones through the spatial clustering analysis and dimensionless processing and optimizes the boundary by the traditional traffic zone division principle.Finally, the paper uses the discrete location point of phone signaling data to represent mobile phone users’movement trajectory. Then by setting time threshold, semi dynamic distance threshold and velocity threshold, it designs the method of obtaining the trip chains to get the travel OD expression with the temporal and spatial properties.At last it achieves the visualization analysis of users’OD combined with the ArcGIS platform, which have important significance for city planning, transportation planning and management.
