With fast development of construction in China, construction safety management has become a subject which many scholars are researching intensively. Safety risk management in working at heights is one of the most important parts in construction safety management on building engineering. The environment of working at heights changes dynamically, cross-operations happen frequently, it also has a wide range of different hazards; hence there are many kinds of hazards around the construction sites. For these reasons, many construction accidents happened during working at heights. Starting with identifying the hazards of working at heights at the construction sites, then applied systematic analysis method to identify and measure the risk in construction. It can not only improve the level of safety management but also has an important theoretical significance and widespread application value to build a safety construction atmosphere. In this article, Bayesian network is applied in risk prediction and accident analysis with the BN Software NETICA. The article firstly introduces the classification and characteristics of hazards in height operations, and then proposed a structured method which is called "Construction Job Hazard Analysis" to identify the hazard of working at heights, then acquire the accident precursor date from OSHA, particular emphasis on the category "fall from height", the large number of accident samples supported the statistical analysis. According to Accident-Causing Theory, the article structured multi-case accident chain, and then built Bayesian networks on the basis of the accident chain. The parameter of Bayesian network was obtained with a Triangle fuzzy assessment model from questionnaire. Finally, a case study is presented to demonstrate and validate the proposed approach. Using Bayesian network, this paper makes the accident analysis quantitative.
