The Dalian Coherent Light Source(DCLS) is an important project supported by National Natural Science Foundation in China. The mechanical support system for DCLS is a complex and high precision positioningsystem,which provides supporting, location and position adjustment. The higher position accuracy of the key parts such as quadruple magnet, relative to the beam center is very important for the Free Electron Laser(FEL) equipment, which will directly affect the quality of the beam. A remote-controlled quadrupole mover will be adopted for the undulator segment of the Dalian Coherent Light Source(DCLS) project, in order to realize the precise beam-based aligment(BBA) of the quedrupole.A bunch compressor will beadopted in the DCLS linac in order to achieve a high current of greater than 300A(0.3GeV), Therefore a flexible bunch compressor chicane will be adopted for the DCLSLinac.This paper focuses on the research of a remote-controlled quadrupole mover for BBA and a flexible bunch compressorchicane by structural design, by theories analysis and experimental testing.According to the physical requirements for DCLS,qudrupoles in the undulator segments should be able to adjust in vertical and horizontal directions, the adjustable range is ± 0.5 mm, the positioning accuracy and repeatability is within ±3μm. This paper focuses on the research of the remote-controlled quadrupole mover for BBA by engineering design,by error analysis, and experimental testing.The results show that the positioning accuracy and repeatability of the remote-controlled quadrupole mover meet the design requirements(within ±3μm) by the grating ruler feedback control.According to the physical requirements for DCLS,two bending magnets in the middle of the chicane can be moved transversely to the beam, and are to move together transversely range from-0.5°to 7°, the positioning accuracy and repeatability is within ±0.05 mm, This paper focuses on the research of a flexible bunch compressor chicane by engineering design, by error analysis and experimental Testing. The mechanical deformation and stress of the translational slide table, the rotating girder, the support for vacuum chamber and the supports for the bending magnets are calculated by finite element analysis, in order to get more reasonable design.The results show that the positioning accuracy and repeatabilitythe of the flexible bunch compressor chicane meet the design requirements(within ±0.05mm) by the grating ruler feedback control.
