Schnabel Wagon is a special freight wagon which has unique railway transport capacity, and is widely used for transporting large, extra large and other unconventional equipment.With the development of the heavy industry and the railway transportation in our country, the railway transportation’s demand of schnabel wagon is becoming higher and higher. Aiming at the problems which the different stability, the heavy tare weight and the low running speed, this article takes the 380 t schnabel wagon as the research object, opposites the main structure of the schnabel wagon characteristics and further research based on the introduction of the schnabel wagon’s structure characteristics and the theoretical calculation, and provides the theoretical basis for the improvement of mechanical properties and improvement the schnabel wagon.According to the structure’s changing load condition and the complex stress state of the schnabel wagon, this article takes the schnabel beam as the research object, establishs the force balance equation for static analysis of the schnabel beams, and calculates its theoretical value based on the analysis of the structure of the schnabel wagons. Then, obtains its numerical simulation value by using the simulation software, and compare to its theoretical value.The schnabel beam is the main component of the schnabel wagon’s lifting mechanism, and its stability and structure strength is critical during the design of the schnabel wagon. According to the schnabel beam’s strength and stiffness whether meet the transport requirements, this article analyzes the schnabel beam’s strength and stiffness by using the finite element method, and proposes some relevant recommendations about the stress concentration area of the structure. According to the stability of the schnabel beam, this article carries out linear buckling analysis based on the finite element, then, obtains the schnabel beam’s critical load factor, and ensures the schnabel wagon’s safety and stsbility during the operation.The underframe is a key institution connecting the lifting mechanism with the truck. Thanks for heavy tare weight, the allowance stress and diaplacement of the underframe, this article is about to carry out parameterized structure optimization based on the results of the finite element analysis, solves a series of reasonable parameters on the design variable and achieves the large undercarriage’s lightweight design.
