| In the late 1890 s, the city of Harbin grew rapidly with the historic opportunity of the construction of the Chinese Eastern Railway. The industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern Railway produced in this period have multiple values involving culture, art, science and technology. However, due to the rapid development of urban construction along the railway, the whole spatial structure of them has been destroyed.This paper aims to sort out the historical context of the industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Harbin, to excavate its landscape features as well as establish the city’s image. According to the basic procedure “subject confirmation, node determines, paths construction, space network initially construction, space network optimizationâ€, this paper apply the theory of cultural route, dynamic protection and organic order to construct resource space network of the industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern R ailway in Harbin, in order to achieve the overall protection to the industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Harbin, as well as to make the foundation for its sustainable development and utilization.This paper carries on the analysis of the industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern Railway from three aspects including history, resource characteristics and market demand at the beginning, and then come up with the theme of "hub of the railway line" for the spatial network. 167 resource points of the industrial cultural landscapes were analyzed from the aspects of spatial and temporal distribution, historical functions, feature types and current protection and reuse situations, and then filtered and rated according to the theme and their conditions. With the help of the minimum cumulative resistance model, by creating three resistance surfaces, which were terrain slope, road type and the resource point buffer zone, the paths in space were simulated and optimized. On the basis of the above, the initial construction of the space network was completed by adding buffer nodes. Through the optimization of the nodes and paths, the overall layout of the space network of Harbin industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern Railway is finally determined as “three theme pathâ€and“three districtâ€.Faced with the fragmentation phenomenon of the industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Harbin, this paper integrates it into a highly efficient and orderly space network system, reflecting its historical and cultural value through the mutual relationship between the resources points. As a result, the industrial cultural landscape resources are effectively protected and inherited, and a new development way for the protection of the industrial cultural landscapes of the Chinese Eastern Railway has been explored. |
