With increasing levels of modern industry, It is also the demand for cars has increased steadily. Rims are part of the a vehicle’s components, it affects all aspects of the car’s performance. As the actual work environment rims is more complex, the load is relatively complex subject, so the rims of their own stability, reliability and validity will inevitably decline in a long time loaded, Even as a result of severe fatigue damage, leading to dangerous traffic accidents. The main reason of failure about rims is caused by fatigue failure. Therefore, in order to ensure the rims have enough life and stable performance in all aspects, It is necessary analyze the rims’ fatigue analysis.In this paper, 20-8.5 type truck steel wheels as the analysis object, the system analyzes the establishment of the finite element model, modal analysis, analysis of flexural strength and fatigue life prediction about bending fatigue tests. First, we modeling rims’ bending fatigue finite element use ANSYS-WORKBENCH, then simplified discretization, boundary conditions and load handling, static analyze it, and consider the bolts’ influence. Then analyze the rims’ free modal and constraints modal, drawn rims’ natural frequency and the corresponding modes, and by comparison with the test results to verify the correctness of the finite element analysis. Compared the minimum load frequency from fatigue testing machine with calculation and analysis of the first order constraint modal frequency, in order to prevent resonance, damage to the machine compare the moment loading frequency and constraints modal frequency of the first order, if the loading frequency is less than a third of the frequency bands, we can ignore the impact of the inertial force to the test. Finally simulating rims’ fatigue, static analysis we selected eight directions on rims, simulate the stress distribution when the wheels turn around. Using fe-safe software for fatigue analysis analyze the rims’ fatigue life, based on the nominal stress method of calculation algorithms to calculate the fatigue life of the rim, at the last, compared the fatigue life’s conclusion with experimental results, prove the possibility of using finite element fatigue life prediction.
