The thermal power generating units are still the main body in power generation, and they are irreplaceable in the power industry. Along with the advance of the energy policy in China, acceleration of the upgrading for coal-fired power generating units are required in the notice of the comprehensive upgrade work. After the upgrading, the average of the standard coal consumption rate of power supply need to be below 310 g/kW·h. And to the 600 MW units, the consumption rate need to be below 300 g/k W·h. According to the notice, the upgrading of energy-saving for the coal-fired power generating units is imperative.The upgrading technologies of energy-saving are simplex and targeted to certain power plant, and no studies of comparative analysis of technological economy of all the feasible technologies are shown at present.According to the design parameters and operating data of the 600 MW unit in Datong Power Plant, the paper designed the projects of waste-heat utilization technologies, such as the low pressure economizer, the association system of the low pressure economizer and the air heater, the operating system of the flue gas temperature, the system of the bypass flue gas channel, and designed the project to transform the electric water pump for steam driven pump. By the equivalent enthalpy drop method, the paper calculated the variation of the standard coal consumption rate of power supply in each project. And the paper analysed the technology economy and the energy saving potential of the technologies above, proposed the scope and the advantages and disadvantages of the technologies. And the corresponding software were programmed by C++, which is named “Module of the computational analysis of the upgrading technologies ”.
