Since entering the 21 st century, digital technology has developed at a rapid speed, and gone deeply into people’s life. The rapid development of digital technology give new impetus to the development of construction industry, bringing enormous changes in all field of society. In the information society, social production has been closely related to computer technology affecting the social production practice down the whole time. Similarly, digital construction technology plays an indispensable role in the construction industry, bringing a huge breakthrough both on theoretical methods and engineering practice of the construction industry. It is 3D printing technology that is a new technology in the construction of digital technology and currently it is of continuous application and development in the construction field.Currently, there is damage influence on the application and development in the construction industry of the increasing material manufacturing technology(also known as 3D printing technology) due to the expensive print materials for building, immature printer technology, wasteful material in the process of the printing and so on. Thus only a small amount of the 3D printing technology has been applied to the engineering. In this paper, object segmentation problem, material optimization problem and spatial structure optimization problems in the printing process were taken into consideration base on the print of “City of Lotus ”, a commercial plaza scale test mode. Then, the “City of Lotus ”was scale printed applying 3D printing technology based on the melting layer product molding technology(FDM) principle in order to guide 3D printing in the construction industry for the further application and development. The main work of this article is as follows:1.This article elaborated the research background and significance of this paper, summarized the research situation of the digital construction technology at home and abroad, and described the definition, characteristics, materials and applications of 3D printing technology.2.This article summarized the the theory of 3D printing from the industry background, technical work process, technical support, the type of printer and other aspects. In addition, it discussed the main crafting of 3D printing technology in application from the following three aspects respectively, which were D-Shape contour technique(contour crafting), type D crafting and concrete printing. The performance of 3D printing building materials is analyzed and compared with the specific technology.3.Analyzing the key problems of 3D printing model, such as object segmentation, material optimization and spatial structure optimization and so on, this article laid stress on "skin frame" support structure system with light quality and high strength. Then putting these techniques above into the design of the commercial square model of the lotus of the city.4.Considering the problems of the complex structure Additive manufacturing,this article did a research on the slice’s processing method of the computer model in in the process of 3D printing building, such as the establishment of 3D printing process model, the document format conversion, the establishment of slicing file and the applications of related software.5.3D printing technology based on FDM principle was the key research, including the FDM process principle, material matching, the characteristics of the crafts and the structure of the corresponding 3D printer. Finally, it is necessary for us to take the technology to achieve the commercial square building model’s of "city of Lotus".
