In recent years, with the rapid development of offshore wind farms, maintenance vessels in wind farm become an urgent need and a research hotspot. For maintenance vessels in wind farm, we chose to use the ship form of the catamaran with big bulbous head and stern as the maintenance vessels, it has good resistance and seakeeping performance. As an important content of seakeeping performance, wave added resistance largely affects the ship’s operation performance and economic benefits, and the researches of it have great theoretical significance and practical value. With the development of the computational fluid dynamics, the CFD method has been widely used in the field of ship.This paper used professional marine engineering CFD software FINE/Marine to establish numerical wave tank, and then set boundary conditions to get the simulation of pitch and heave motion of catamaran. It had researched the influence of computational domain partition and mesh size on the longitudinal motion and wave resistance of high speed catamaran by setting different computational domain and mesh scheme. we get the relative quantitative study conclusion, and the results are compared with experimental data. we preliminarily get the way of estimation of wave resistance of catamaran.According to the usage of the maintenance vessels in wind farm and the characteristic of catamaran, we chose to use the ship form of the catamaran with big bulbous head and stern as the maintenance vessels in wind farm. The pitch and heave motion and wave added resistance of the catamaran is calculated by using the researched CFD numerical calculation method. By setting different bulbous head and stern programs, it researched the the effect of different length of the bulbous head and stern on its resistance performance in the wave; By choosing different demihull spacing, it analyzes the effect of demihulls spacing on the catamaran with big bulbous bow and stern as the maintenance vessels in wind farm and seek the law.Then this paper study he influence of wave elements on the wave added resistance and longitudinal movement of the catamaran with big bulbous head and stern, including the wave height and wave angle. And according to the actual situation of ship navigation area, this paper select several typical conditions to simulate the motion of the catamaran with big bulbous head and stern in the irregular waves, and get several statistics analysis result.The research results of this paper will provide some reference for the calculation of wave added resistance and the ship design and optimization of the maintenance vessels in wind farm.
