Application Research On Pocket Park In Tianhe Urban-center District Of Guangzhou

In today’s built- up area of the city center, public space is extremely limited, but there are still a lot of improper use and low utilization rate of public space. According to the theoretical and practical experience from abroad, the pocket parks are convenient and effective to meet people’s basic needs in the high-density urban centers areas. With the development of society, pocket park with small area should be an important trend, which is an important addition to the city park. There is much for reference of this theory to public space building of our high-density urban centersThis article starts from the relevant systematic theory, first, according to literature research, define three concepts-----pocket parks, urban centers and urban public spaces, discriminate between pocket parks, community garden, linear park and ribbon roadside green space from our country’s classification standard of city green space; detailing C hina and overseas research status about pocket park in theory and practice, summed up the classification and characteristics of pocket park which is in line with the actual characteristics of our urban public space.Secondly, the article refers to the theory of urban space "Function- Form- Capacity" integrated control system, the design elements of pocket park are classified into two levels: function and form, summed up corresponding specific design elements in the above two levels. Summarize each design element via theoretical and practical case studies, and lay the foundation for specific case studies below.Again, by making an example of Tianhe Urban-center District of Guangzhou, surveying from a macro point of the whole region and a micro point of single pocket parks respectively, analysis each design element’s present characteristics of pocket park and "class pocket park" in function and form, through a lot of detailed survey data analysis and comparison of related actual cases, summed up the advantages and disadvantages of pocket park in two levels.Finally, aimed at above questions found in the cases, propose a series of improvement strategies and design methods in accordance with the present situation of Tianhe Urban-center District of Guangzhou; and based on the research summary, propose appropriate construction principles of urban pocket park in the central area and the pocket park design principles based on creating a good atmosphere of the city center, which are significant in improving the quality of urban public space and perfecting the urban green space system.
