Dwindling resources of modern society, the prob lem of energy consumption gradually attention by people, including building designers are also eyeing architectural energy saving problem. University library as an important building in the school, as well as high energy consumption of public buildings, more need to the designer’s attention. Aimed at this situation, this paper chose is located in the more extreme climate of hot summer and cold winter climate zone, Wuhan city, mainly by means of computer simulation, from the perspective of quantitative to qualitative analysis, to indoor atrium and surrounding the energy consumption of the reading room condition and thermal environment for research and discussion. The main research content is as follows:(1) In Wuhan meteorological data analysis, 4, 5, 9, 10 month for possible use natural ventilation to reduce air conditioning energy consumption in the main.(2) Using the De ST software, for different azimuth, comparing the indoor air conditioning energy consumption situation of the atrium and some variables affect indoor atrium energy consumption simulation investigation, the main conclusion is: Wuhan regional climate condition, the library building energy consumption of air conditioning refrigeration summer significantly higher than that of the winter heating e nergy consumption, so the library building should first consider the summer heat. Library building interior atrium for edge division. For the same kind of lighting the way side court the total energy consumption of air conditioning are close to, but will look from all types, using the side lighting atrium at the top of the air conditioning energy consumption is lower than on the daylighting of the atrium.(3) Using airpak software, the simulation of library atrium on indoor thermal environment, mainly inspects the indoor temperature and wind speed. Main conclusion is: from the library the indoor thermal environment, thermal pressure ventilation is used to reduce indoor temperature and improve the ventilation conditions have a certain effect, can also increase with the decrease of atrium height to width ratio, through the outlet area, open atrium within interface and so on ways to improve the efficiency of thermal pressure ventilation. In terms of wind pressure ventilation, besides window rate, can also by clo sing top outlet, setting up reasonable orientation to make full use of wind pressure ventilation.(4) During the transition season in Wuhan core type selected in the atrium of a case was measured, the indoor temperature and wind speed.
