Under this background,material civilization and spiritual civilization are the harmony development ideas, and the harmony green development ideas of people and nature is relevant to the landscape design.In order to satisfy people’s spiritual culture demand of garden and cope with the diversification of landscape architecture this paper mainly research on the most important plant which in the garden construction.And then the author sum up the symbolic meanings of traditional plants and the common garden plants.The last task is to discuss the application forms and principles about these plants to make this task has the practical significance to inheriting and development of Chinese traditional culture in modern landscape design.The paper defined the meaning of the plant symbolic,and illustrated its source,influence factors, characteristic and research value.
