Since the 1990 s, the freeway in our country got into a booming development and the total mileage had ranked first in the world surpassed the United States in 2012. As the main land corridor, the operational issues of freeway became more and more serious in China. The poor road conditions caused by natural disasters, car accidents and road facilities damage, etc., made a significant impact on the safety and operation efficiency of freeway system. The accident severity of freeway is higher than that of the ordinary roads owing to the characteristics of freeway. The dynamic identification of the poor conditions of freeway is of great significance on the safety and operation efficiency of freeway.Most of the traditional information recognition methods of freeway needed to establish the fixed detection equipment, which can’t achieve the coverage of the freeway network. As the popularity and the higher coverage rate of the mobile and communication network, the use of mobile phone as a detector of traffic information recognition is in the ascendant, which is also the important field of intelligent transportation research.The paper studied the identification method with the abnormal road traffic based on the orientation of mobile phone on the freeway. The research work around this issue mainly consisted of four parts. In the first part, the paper proved the feasibility of mobile phone positioning method for the recognition of the freeway traffic and discussed the identification scheme of freeway traffic on the basis of analyzing the popularity rate of mobile phone at home and the performance characteristics of freeway by referring to a large number of domestic and foreign literatures. The data acquisition method of freeway was studied and settled through the analysis of the applicability of all sorts of the positioning technology in the second part. The revised positioning data of mobile phone which obtained by the combination map matching technology with the filtered data based on the performance characteristics of freeway used as the identification of the system. The critical discriminant parameters of the system are determined by identification method of vehicle and road traffic adopting the fuzzy clustering analysis. According to the identification method, a good recognition results was obtained by data simulating and analyzing in different situations by the use of MATLAB software. Finally, the paper discussed the case of the research content, and described the realization of the system function based on the research technology in detail.The main innovation of this paper contains the following aspects. First, the paper conducted independent freeway vehicle identification buy the use of fuzzy clustering analysis and use the F test method of Maximum difference of(Fλ- Fα). Second, this paper did a research on the freeway vehicle identification speed parameter of vehicle type division. Third, this paper made a study on freeway poor road condition identification adopting the fuzzy clustering analysis and the parameter of accident vehicle.
