Study For Nanjing Modern Hotel Buildings

Nanjing is an important city in modem history of China which witnessed the changes of social life in modern China. Modem times is the special period in which the western tried to pull Chinese into the capital system of world, and in such period Chinese and Western cultural began to exchange and collide. Hotel industry’s development and changes in modern times witnessed and magnified the blending and collision. Through research on distribution of Nanjing modem hotels and typical hotel buildings, this dissertation tried to clarify the development of modern hotel in Nanjing and the change of hotel buildings caused by western capital. In this way fill in the blanks of study on the construction of hotel industry in nanjing during modern times.Working on file search integrated the historical data of each hotel building, including the information of investors and construction. Photographing and mapping recorded the information of the existing hotel building.The first chapter is the introduction which illustrates significance and research status quo and propose Research methods, research content and research framework through the summary of the related literature. The second chapter is the research on background of the development of modem hotel industry in Nanjing. Through processing the historical data in graphical way, author collected names and address of the hotels in Nanjing City during modern times and mapped them on historical map. Comparison and analysis of these maps helps to work out the distribution of hotels and how the change during modern times. In the third chapter author listing seven existing representative hotel buildings in nanjing. Working out the history of each hotel building though the collection of first-hand information and on this basis analysis the particularity of each building. Chapter four followed chapter three, author classified the hotels in capital mode and summary the opportunity and the cause of development and then analysis of common and special of each hotel of each type.This dissertation outlineed the distribution picture of hotel industry in Nanjing during the modem times through collection of large amount of data and then carried on the historical research and field investigation of the existing hotel, finally explore the clue of the development of hotel industry in Nanjing through the method of classification analysis.
