Research In Nanjing Modern Industrial Buildings

Nanjing is one of the most important cities of modem China.Since the construction of Jinling Machinery Manufacturing Bureau near Qinhuai River in 1865,the industrial buildings of Nanjing have been the creators and bearers of urban culture for more than 80 years,and they also witnessed the gorgeous transformation which turns Nanjing as a capital of ancient China into the capital of modern China.This dissertation takes Nanjing modern industrial buildings as the research object,takes data verification and field investigation as two methods to examine the architectural phenomena and planning characteristics from various angles,and explores the background of history,culture,society,economy and technology so as to discuss the development characteristics,rules and implied value of Nanjing modern industrial buildings.The first chapter is the introduction,which briefly introduces the background and research significance of the dissertation,clarifies the research object and the content,summarizes the relevant research results and finally discusses the research ideas,methods and research framework of this dissertation.The second chapter introduces the development and current situation of Nanjing modern industrial buildings,which also explains its spatial layout and characteristics according to the timeline of research.In the third to fifth chapters this dissertation selected seven primary cases and thirty-two secondary cases to establish the research to Nanjing modern industrial buildings in different periods,which analyzes the characteristics of industrial buildings in each period from the aspects of social background,industrial type,spatial layout,architectural technology,building form,design ideas and so on.In the last two chapters this dissertation summarizes the value of Nanjing modern industrial buildings and its evaluation method,which also makes a prospect for its protection and reuse methods.
