In the steel structure, the beam may be spliced with high-strength bolt and extend end-plate, and this kind of connection has semi-rigid characteristics. In the general design, extend end-plates’ relative sliding is not allowed in this kind of connection during its normal use phase, so the structure’s energy consumption because of the relative sliding of the extend end-plates is not considered. But the connection’s angle displacement is allowed within a certain scope, naturally with the consumption of energy. When the connection under high load or large reciprocating load, end-plates’ relative sliding and angle displacement of the connection are inevitable. The connection mechanical behavior and the connection’s effect on the working performance of the structure are very important.First, this thesis analyzes the beam connection spliced with the high strength bolts and extend end-plates, and forms a integral understand of the connection. Then the finite element model is established with ANSYS software, and analyzes the model’s performance under the monotonic load, then achieves the relationships curve of moment–rotation(M—θr) and shear–sliding(F—S) of the connection. Then considers end-plate thickness, bolt diameter, stiffening rib setting of the joint the three parameters, studies their effect on the joint’s performance. And the model for hysteretic analysis is also established, simulating the hysteretic properties of the connection under the cyclic loading, and /-?pb rM M hysteretic curve and /-pbF F S hysteretic curve are obtained at the same time.Analysis shows that:The beam connection spliced with high strength bolts and extend end-plates has shearing and bending semi-rigidity. Monotonic loading, under the same conditions increasing thickness of end-plate, increasing joint bolt diameter, setting the stiffeners on the connection all can increase bending and shear loading capacity within a certain range, and the relationship between force and deformation of the node also can be improved. It is demonstrated that the setting extend end-plate stiffener is a more effective way to improve the joint’s bearing capacity and ductility. Through calculating coefficient of energy consumption and equivalent viscous damping coefficient of the hysteretic curve,it is indicated that the connection has better energy dissipation performance, but the slip energy dissipation performance of the joint is better than the rotation energy dissipation performance of the joint.
