As a positive displacement pump CAM rotor pump is widely used in the fields of food and medicine, petroleum chemical industry, agriculture,and waste water treatment for conveying fluid medium.First, it can transport high viscosity medium even there are solid particles contained in it.Second, the fluid medium can’t be polluted during the transportation process.With the development of the national economic and technological progress, the market increase the requirement of pump performance constantly.In order to satisfy the market requirement, the volume efficiency and the flow pulsation of rotor pump need to be improved firstly.The volume efficiency is not high will increase the energy consumption and the increase product cost comes with it.Flow pulsation can cause the pressure pulsation and then lead to vibration and noise of the system.Besides, flow pulsation of pump will also affect the quality of the products directly.At present,there is a certain gap of pump performance at home and abroad.The theoretical research on CAM rotor pump is less and it is usually developed by the method of imitation and analogy in China.In order to improve CAM rotor pump performance, save energy and reduce production costs, the three leaf arc rotor pump is taken as the object in this paper to study the volume efficiency and the flow characteristics of it by theoretical analysis and numerical simulation method.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) The composition of three leaf circular arc rotor profile and its essential condition are analyzed and according to the characteristics of the conjugate curve, the profile equation of arc shaped rotor is deduced. Based on the introduction of span ration and coefficient of used area, analyzed the relationship between them.(2) Based on the Navier- stokes equation,velocity and flux of clearance leakage were analyzed from the angle of both theoretical flow and leakage. After it,the volume efficiency formula of arc rotor pump was deduced and got the impact factors.(3) According to the variation of the pump cavity volume, derived the instantaneous flow formula, and based on it the discharge characteristic was analyzed including flow pulse frequency, uneven coefficient of flow and the location of maximum flux and minimum flux.(4) Geometric and mesh model of flow field were built by UG and ICEM. With the using of ANSYS Fluent combined with dynamic mesh technique,transient numerical simulation for internal flow field was carried and got the information of flow field and the law that volume efficiency and uneven flow coefficient affected by various factors.
