The improvement of the power of navy is becoming an important support for protecting the interests and security of the ocean. Special force divers—frogmen can usually make an amazing in the mission of the navy. In this paper, a micro mixed-flow water jet propulsion pump was designed. It was applied to the backpack propulsion equipment of the frogmen in order to adapt the active stealth and high mobility. The performance of the mixed-flow water jet propulsion pump in different working conditions were researched and analyzed through the numerical simulation method.In this paper, a micro mixed-flow water jet propulsion pump was designed combine with the principle of water jet propulsion and the analysis of the current situation about the development of water jet propulsion. Pro/E and ICEM software were used to set up a mathematical model and Fluent software was used for flow field numerical simulation of mixed-flow water jet propulsion pump. It is concluded that under different speed conditions of trust and drag of the model, the design of water jet propulsion pump in this paper can continue to promote the model voyage until the velocity beyond 4.7Kn.Based on the standard k-ε turbulence model, using Fluent software for internal flow field numerical simulation of water jet propulsion pump’s steady under different flow conditions, obtained propulsive characteristic and the external characteristic curve of a waterjet propulsion pump at different rotational speed and different working conditions. Combined with internal pressure, velocity distribution and flow chart of different conditions in pump model to comparatively analyze the flow in the pump under different operating conditions, it is concluded that the design of the water jet propulsion pump model is reasonable and feasible, and the performance is good. It has references for the development of the later single shoulder water jet propeller.Monitoring the average value of the pressure in the inlet and outlet of the pump through unsteady numerical simulation of the internal flow field about the model pump, drawing curves of the corresponding pressure and speed along with the time change and waterjet propulsion pump characteristic with time changes, then the corresponding curves are analyzed. Finally, come to a conclusion that the structure design of water jet propulsion pump is reasonable.We get the distribution of pressure fluctuation and relationship of pulsation frequency and frequency about inner flow field of the model pump by monitoring the pressure fluctuation characteristics of the inner flow of model pump. The monitoring points are set at different locations and under different working conditions in the process of unsteady simulation.
