The building of waterfront landscape is a motivation of city environment development. It has already been proved by developed nations. However, in the background of globalization, the designing styles of landscape have been convergent. The regionality has been ignored in many cities’ landscape designing process. As a result, the landscape designing lost characters of regionality. The waterfront zone of city is often a place filled with history and culture, which is why this research choose the The Old Yellow River in Xuzhou as the research object. This research would dig the regionality character of The Old Yellow River, to connect the river culture to Xuzhou history.This research takes the regionality of Huanghe river as research object. It takes literature review, comparing, field survey as methodology. It brings the theory principle of waterfront of The Old Yellow River in Xuzhou. It applies reference for Huanghe river waterfront building and for city image development in Xuzhou.This research first illustrates the waterfront landscape of The Old Yellow River in Xuzhou, which combines the culture characters of Xuzhou city to state the regionality character of old Huanghe waterfront landscape. It summarizes the regionality situation and problems in Huanghe river waterfront by field survey, and analyses the regionality of Huanghe river waterfront from the history, nature and society and economy fields.After all, this research illustrates the designing methods of The Old Yellow River waterfront landscape, from macroscopic view to microscopic view, by different methods. From macroscopic view it states that waterfront recourse combination to emphasizes the regionality theme, enrich the space levels.
