Since Zhu qiqian found and published the copy of yingza ofashi at Jiangnan library in 1919, Tao Xiang started a study on collation on kinds of editions with many experts on a large scale and published the “Tao edition” of yingzaofashi in 1925. Since then one century, a large number of edition or architectural experts continued the study on the editions. They not only figured out the circulating relationship of yingzaofashi, but also laid a solid foundation of text. However, most collation studies based on several versions of yingzaofashi and focused on texts whi le lack of comprehensive comparisons of versions. The paper selects seven typical editions of existing yingzaofashi: “Shaoding edition”, “Yongledadian edition”, “Wenyuange edition”, “Gugong edition”, “Tao edition”, “Notes of yingzaofashi” and “Zhudaozhuoyi edition”, and adds two editions from Taiwan, “Taiwan 4882 edition” and “Taiwan 4883 edition” as objects, focusing the structural carpentry which is important in ancient wooden structure. It compares texts and patterns respectively with architectural knowledge with methods of science of edition and collation in Chinese classical philology. The text part collates the differences between other editions based on “Tao edition” from perspectives of variants, taboo words and copy errors. The pattern part includes a comparison of different editions, taking “Notes of yingzaofashi” and “Zhudaozhuoyi edition” as references, and describes pattern cognition, patter evolution and exact expression. The research depicts the situation about circulating editions comprehensi vely, and generalizes the relationship of them, at the same time, making comments the characters of editions to provide references for research on yingzaofashi in the future.
